Fernande Chery

Fernande Chery was born on March 25,1940 in Anse d’ Hainault, Haiti to Adulcia Jean-Baptiste and Fernand Chery but she was raised in Limbe, Haiti where she attended Catholic school and received her 1st Holy Communion. Fernande was the 4th of eight children, and later in life became known as “Grandma Nande”. She was peacefully called to her heavenly home on Monday, March 11, 2024. Fernande returned to Anse d’Hainault after her aunt/guardian passed on, and met Jean Gustave Logerie. They had 3 beautiful children, Pierrette Silencieux, Ravel Logerie and Marina Saint- Fleur. When her daughters attended Catholic school, Fernande got involved and assisted her daughters' less fortunate classmates. Fernande was young at heart. She enjoyed organizing day outings and parties. She loved people in general. She was very generous and always made sure others were taken care of before her needs were met. She always wanted to feed everyone. She was a wise woman and always had a piece of advice for everyone. Her favorite pastime was chatting with her friends. She loved good company and good food. She also loved music and enjoyed singing along to her favorite tunes.

Fernande worked in hospitality for 15 years. Her last employer was Dobbs International at Newark Airport. Throughout her career, she was known as a strong, hard and diligent worker.

Fernande was a true believer in her patron saint, John the Baptiste. She celebrated his feast day every year. June 24th was always a celebration where she embraced family and friends with food and music.

Fernande Chery leaves to cherish her memories, her 3 children, Pierrette Silencieux, Ravel Logerie and Marina Saint-Fleur. Her In-laws, Clotaire Silencieux, Carline Logerie and Pradel Saint-Fleur. Her surviving siblings, Francia Chery, Luce Fernan Chery, Celeste Vancol and Brechel Chery. Her grandchildren, Danika Silencieux, Clorel Silencieux, Carl Logerie, Pradel Kevin Saint-Fleur, and Keyne Pradel Saint-Fleur. She also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends. She will be greatly missed by all.
