On February 20, 2024, Theodore Alfonso Russell was called to his heavenly home. Theodore was born October 8, 1963, to the late Luretha Daniels and Cornelius McGhee in Montgomery, Al. Theodore was the first born to Luretha.
Theodore moved to New Jersey with his mom and younger sister Jackie at the age of three. He lived in NJ until 1979 when he returned to Alabama to continue his studies, where he graduated from Sidney Lanier High School. After high school, he decided to move back to NJ where he linked back up with his childhood friend Wendell Green and met new lifelong friends Willie Davis, Kenneth Davis, and John Reynolds. On June 18, 1986, Theodore (now known as Alonzo) welcomed his son to the world Alonzo McMiller.
Alonzo’s world changed in 1993 when he was shot and paralyzed from the waist down. Although this altered his life, it did not change the man we all knew as Alonzo. He continued to smile, make others laugh with his constant wit. He worked hard to remain independent. Handicap was not a word he uses to describe himself. Ask anyone Al was a great dancer on feet and in his chair. In 1999 Alonzo relocated to San Diego, CA, where he worked for American Specialist Health Inc. until he could no longer work, returning to NJ in 2016.
